About Ida Zeiler

Education is a passion of mine. I loved instilling an appreciation and excitement for history in my high school students. My love for learning and teaching is now utilized in my home where I home school my four children. I have also taught as an online ESL tutor to children and adults around the world. Currently, I continue my passion for teaching as a history fact checker and proofreader for an educational curriculum company. Being an independent contractor has given me a perspective into the small business world.

My educational foundation benefited from a variety of perspectives and cultures. As a military child, I had the opportunity to live abroad and begin my primary education in Germany. My family then moved to Texas, where I spent my middle school and high school years in El Paso along the southern US border. I had the opportunity there to more fully engage with my Hispanic heritage, thus further shaping my educational perspective. I received my bachelor’s degree in history from Brigham Young University in 2004 and returned to Texas to obtain a teaching certificate to begin my teaching career.

Community has always been an important part of my life. I currently serve as the North Las Vegas Planning Commissioner, representing Ward 3. As a member of the North Las Vegas City Charter committee, I am working with our neighbors to ensure we meet our community’s needs.

My family has lived in North Las Vegas for more than six years and we are grateful to call Nevada home. Starting in west Texas, then central Florida, and northern Wyoming, we have always strived to learn from and work alongside our fellow community members. Our roots are finally deepening in Nevada.

I’ve been married to my husband, Dr. Cleat Zeiler, a geophysicist for 18 years. We have four children, 2 daughters and 2 sons. Not far from all the chaos and action is our little dog, Apollo.

Service is a vital component of our household. Some of our favorite places to volunteer are: Fisher House, Gilcrease Orchard, Clean the World, Spread the Word Nevada, Just One Project, Wreaths Across America, Nevada Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Las Vegas Celtic Society and a memory care facility.
